Alexandru Sotropa is an external PhD student at the Maastricht Law & Tech Lab (Maastricht University), where he is researching issues arising at the intersection of consumer protection and competition law with respect to digital markets and data monetization, under the supervision of Catalina Goanta (Maastricht University), Thibault Schrepel (Utrecht University) and Gijs van Dijck (Maastricht University). Alexandru is also a member of the Bucharest Bar, and practices law as an associate at leading Romanian law firm Nestor Nestor Diculescu Kingston Petersen, where he deals with competition law, state aid and EU law.
Giovanni De Gregorio
Giovanni De Gregorio is Ph.D. candidate in Public Law at the University of Milano-Bicocca, specialized in Constitutional, IT and IP law. Before graduating in Law at Bocconi University in 2016 with a dissertation about the European Digital Single Market strategy, he attended courses at national and international level such as the Cyberlaw course at the London School of Economics. His research interests are related to the freedom of expression and, in particular, its relationships with new digital technologies.
